Custom Multi-Window Record Selection System.

The standard method for locating records in FileMaker Pro - the 'find' - is not always the way users want to work. Sometimes it makes more sense to work through a list of records and 'select' particular records, seeing their selections listed along with other records from which they are still choosing.
The FileMaker 8 system shown in this demo file enables users to click on records in a list to highlight and select them (or, if they are already selected, to de-select them), plus a button to instantly 'find' all the selected records. More importantly, the technique does not involve record marking (so it is safe in a multi-user solution) and it permits the user to make separate selections in different windows (unlimited windows, in fact).
This powerful FileMaker 8 technique builds on and extends our previous (FileMaker 5/6) example, harnessing the power of memory variables and script parameters to provide an efficient, seamless and open-ended solution. With this technique, selections made by different users - and by the same user in different windows operate independently and each window (and user) presents a discrete set of selected records.
