Automatically Highlight the Active Row in List View.

In list view, FileMaker indicates the active record with a narrow black band at the left of the record. However sometimes that is not enough and it is desirable to provide a more eye catching indicator of the current record. Whilst techniques have been developed in the past to provide this functionality, FileMaker 8 allows us to come at the problem from a new angle.
This demonstration file automatically declares identity of the current record in list view as a variable. This in turn provides source data for a calculation which highlights the current record. To ensure that the screen display will keeep up with changes in the underlying logic, the solution uses the zippScript plug-in to trigger a script which refresh the screen.
In this way, by harnessing the native features of FileMaker 8, a simpler and more elegant solution has become possible. This example is indicative of the new horizons that are opening up with each successive release from FMI.
