Showcasing FileMaker 8!   As a courtesy to fellow developers and potential clients, the following demonstration is provided for free download. Automatically Highlight the Active Row in List View.   In list view, FileMaker indicates the active record with a narrow black band at the left of the record. However sometimes that is not enough and it is desirable to provide a more eye catching indicator of the current record. Whilst techniques have been developed in the past to provide this functionality, FileMaker 8 allows us to come at the problem from a new angle. This demonstration file automatically declares identity of the current record in list view as a variable. This in turn provides source data for a calculation which highlights the current record. To ensure that the screen display will keeep up with changes in the underlying logic, the solution uses the zippScript plug-in to trigger a script which refresh the screen. In this way, by harnessing the native features of FileMaker 8, a simpler and more elegant solution has become possible.
