Find Log System   For FileMaker 9!   As a courtesy to fellow developers and potential clients, the following demonstration file is provided for free download. FileMaker's flexible Find capabilities are a great strength, allowing you to perform complex finds involving multiple fields and find requests. However when you regularly perform complex finds, you may wish your solution could keep a record of what you have done, and reinstate it at will. That's where this technique comes in. When you perform a find in this file, the find criteria are captured and stored in a table in the file. The technique will faithfully capture multi-request find criteria. Moreover, the file is configured to enable you to repeat previous finds with the click of a button, to review a history of finds (by user or for all users) or even to edit the criteria of a stored find and then run the revised version. A distinctive feature of this technique is that in restoring a find, it runs the find procedure fresh against the current state of the data, which means it is possible that it will find new and edited records which were not available (or did not meet the criteria) previously. Similarly, records found previously may not be returned if they have been modified so that they no longer meet the original find criteria.
