NightWing Enterprises — Demo for FileMaker Pro™ 9 Control list-view sorts by clicking! Click-Sort Lists   For FileMaker 9!   As a courtesy to fellow developers and potential clients, the following demonstration file is provided for free download. Developers have long sought ways to combine the column sorting functionality of table views with the interface control and richness of FileMaker's list views. Making use of variables in combination with FileMaker 9's new conditional formatting, it has become possible to create custom column sorting that is cleaner, easier to implement and more efficient in operation than ever before. The technique shown in this demonstration file provides both ascending and descending sorts (with alternate clicks of a column's heading). The sort column may be any supported data type (text, number, date, time or timestamp). Visual indication of both the sorted column and sort directionality is provided. The technique achieves this in FileMaker 9 with a single script and only two unstored calculation fields (per table being sorted). This demo file is unlocked and password-free, compliments of NightWing Enterprises. UPDATE: New version available (1.3v1) Version 1.3 provides support for sorting both positive and negative numbers (including decimal fractions).
