NightWing Enterprises — Demo for FileMaker Pro™ 9 Custom & extended formatting functionality! Style Buttons   For FileMaker 9!   As a courtesy to fellow developers and potential clients, the following demonstration file is provided for free download. Replicate and extend the functionality of FileMaker's formatting tools, adjust their behavior and embed the controls selectively into your layouts! Although regular toolbars provide formatting capabilities, they do not integrate with your solution - and they're all-or-nothing (if you make them available for the things users should be doing, they bring with them a lot of other commands that can really mess things up). Using techniques such as this one, you can offer customized functionality, including only selected/appropriate features, embedding controls into the user interface right where users need them. In this demo, we have replicated the functionality of three of the text formatting toolbar buttons and created new/additional functionality for two further buttons for a total of five example buttons. This provides a highly customized user experience with reduced error, less user frustration, enhanced output and improved productivity. And, well, they're also kinda cool... The technique uses a single script that can apply (and remove) styles on selected text in any field in a solution (ie on any layout where the buttons are provided).
